Repair Cafés are free meeting places where you’ll find tools and materials to help you make any repairs you need to clothes, furniture, small appliances, computers, lamps, bicycles, jewelry and more you bring from home.
We throw away a lot of stuff, often because it’s cheaper to replace than repair them or we just don’t know how to fix it. That’s where Repair Cafés come in! You’ll also find people with a variety of repair skills to help out. Together with these volunteers, you can have your broken items repaired instead of needing to replace your broken items.
The Repair Café was initiated by Martine Postma. Since 2007, she has been striving for sustainability at a local level in many ways. Martine organized the very first Repair Café in Amsterdam, on October 18, 2009. It was a great success.Repair Cafés form a worldwide movement that strives to preserve repair skills in society and to promote more repairable products. There are now more than 2,500 Repair Cafés across the world.
Re.Use.Full is thrilled to launch our Repair Cafe in Kansas City on Saturday, April 20, 2024. At Re.Use.Full, our mission is to encourage simple, sustainable living in local communities by connecting donors with gently used items to the people, pets, and nonprofits that need them. In addition to our UnDumpster Days, we feel the Repair Cafe will be a great addition to our sustainability mission.
If you’re someone who enjoys tinkering or problem-solving to get something working again, please email Leslie Scott to learn more.
If you have items in need of fixing, save the date–we’ll be announcing the location soon!
