Young Family Farm – Community. Food Justice. Healthy Living

A Kansas City family-owned operation located at 3819 Wayne Ave, we put in hours of work and lots of love in the planting, growing, and harvesting of our produce. Our methods are eco-friendly–no-till, spin farming with IPM (integrated pest management) –and all of our herbs, fruit, and veggies are grown with organic practices. We hope you enjoy all we have to offer, and share the experience with others.

Like other urban farmers, we are proud of our farm site and our hard work to grow produce on our land. What makes us unique, is our presence in a food desert and area where the median household income is under $30K. Most of the community residents don’t have easy access to fresh fruits and vegetables, and so many of what we grow is not a part of what they normally serve during meals. We have found that the community loves and enjoys trying new produce and seeing us grab their veggies straight out of the ground. What a rewarding experience for all involved!

We offer produce from our urban farm at our weekly farmer’s market on Saturdays from 9am-1pm, rain or shine today. Not only are we selling from our “home” site at 3819 Wayne Ave., we are also selling at Ivanhoe Farmer’s Market (3700 Woodland Avenue) every 2nd Saturday of the month at in June, July, August, and September.

In further support of our community, We are launching our produce support program for families or individuals facing food insecurity. If you or someone you know is struggling with access to fresh vegetables, please consider nominating them for our short-term program. The link is here: forms.gle/ipN6jjGTGE9XGHTH8. Or If you’d like to sponsor a family, let us know. We’re still working out the logistics about how to roll out this component, but if you are interested please email us at [email protected].

Another offering we have is a youth field trip, workshop, group volunteer date, etc. If you’re interested, please fill out the request form and we will do our best to accommodate your request!  forms.gle/Zo56vuucNWS2mDbh9.
