The US Climate Alliance was formed in 2017 during the first Trump Administration. Today the group is a coalition of twelve states that represent nearly 50% of the US population.
Their stated goals are to reduce emissions, implement action-oriented climate policies, consider equity and environmental justice and finally track progress.
Despite the current reversal of the US Federal government on climate policies, this alliance continues to move forward. They wrote to the UN in January to reiterate their commitment to addressing climate change and inform the international community that climate change action is still a focus in the country.
It is a good reminder that progress in this space will continue to happen and we have to support the groups that are doing the work.
