Champions Of The Earth
There is a lot about climate change that can make us feel helpless. It can be helpful to hear about who are working towards innovative, positive solutions to make our planet a healthier place.
The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) has a recognition program called Champions of the Earth. As the UNEP describes, it is a program that “honors individuals, groups and organizations whose actions have a transformative impact on the environment. The annual Champions of the Earth award is the UN’s highest environmental honor.”
The theme for the 2023 award is ending plastic pollution and recipients are recognized for their work in one of four categories:
- Policy leadership
- Inspiration and action
- Entrepreneurial vision
- Science and innovation
