New Strategic Plan to Bring Great Changes in 2024

The Climate Council’s Board of Directors has just approved our next five-year Strategic Plan.  We’re excited about the many new programs that will allow the Council to better serve our partners and the communities they serve.

For followers of the Council’s work you will see more articles, more educational programs, more events, and an expanded Climate Directory https://climategkc.org/climate-directory/ filled with nonprofits and businesses who support our mission to educate, partner, and advocate for solutions that reverse global warming.

The Council provides a nonprofit communications platform that amplifies environmental messages through reciprocal network sharing, empowering a more organized climate movement. Our organizational structure gives us the flexibility to try new things and to say yes to opportunities. In fact, the Council was born out of this very idea – the ability to dive in with other fast-paced actors and pursue bold actions that will actually reverse global warming.

Our First Five Years

During our first five years, we effectively partnered with 50+ climate groups throughout the Midwest to promote over 1600 partner news articles and events. CCGKC produced 150+ educational climate videos and webinars. We developed and promoted five metro-wide Earth Festivals, of which 2 years were moved to an online format during the COVID pandemic. This online presence, of a virtual Earth Festival, was attended from 47 U.S. states and four countries. CCGKC’s Climate Hour Podcast https://climategkc.org/climate-hour/ has ranked in the top 50 and followed in seven countries. Additonally, our social media following increased over 70% just within the last 12 months.

Moving Into the Future

Beginning in October, we convened with an international committee of climate leaders to develop a new Five-Year Strategic Plan. This plan will leverage our strengths, while challenging us to expand the Council’s successes over the next five years. The results of the strategic plan identified new and expanded programs to achieve the following goals:

  1. Amplify environmental voices to increase their effectiveness.
  2. Provide a timely, comprehensive list of climate actions and news to strengthen community engagement.
  3. Network a large multi-generational social media audience to increase mobilization for climate actions.
  4. Unite the community in annual celebrations to inspire immediate climate action.
  5. Engage with those facing climate equity issues to help identify solutions and create unified climate opportunities.
  6. Deepen relationships within the climate community to increase knowledge, effectiveness and capacity for collective action.
  7. Expand the Climate Council’s reach by establishing Chapters throughout North America.

Please join us in growing a better future dedicated to making changes to heal and prosper for the benefit all of the inhabitants on Earth. WE CAN DO this; by fully engaging within your community and the communities that surround you.

We humbly thank each and every one of you – our followers, subscribers and partners – for your much appreciated support.
