Microplastics and their Effects on Aquatic Organisms and the Environment
Through investigating the origins of microplastics, their effects on aquatic organisms, and their accumulation in our ecosystems, this presentation aims to bring awareness to the toll that microplastics take on the environment.
Speaker: Rianon Wallace-Demby
Rianon is an undergraduate at the University of Kansas studying Ecology, Evolutionary, and Organismal Biology and minoring in Arabic. Since 2018, she has been working with the Aquatic Ecology Lab located at the Kansas Biological Survey conducting research on microplastics ; focusing on the trophic transfer of microplastics through aquatic food webs.
