Christmas Cedar Tree Day is Back!

Celebrate the season and support native prairie restoration! Join our KC WildLands team and Powell Gardens for a festive outdoor experience where you can cut down your very own native eastern red cedar tree — a beautiful, fragrant addition to your home for the holidays. By taking home one of these native cedars, you’re helping restore our local ecosystems by removing an encroaching species from our local prairies — a fun and meaningful way to give back to nature while creating new holiday memories!

It’s back! Celebrate the season and support native prairie restoration at our Christmas Cedar Tree Day! On December 6, from 10am-4pm, join Bridging The Gap’s KC WildLands team and Powell Gardens for a festive outdoor experience where you can cut down your very own native eastern red cedar tree — a beautiful, fragrant addition to your home for the holidays. By taking home one of these native cedars, you’re helping restore our local ecosystems by removing an encroaching species from our local prairies — a fun and meaningful way to give back to nature while creating new holiday memories!

🎄 What to Expect:

  • Free and fun for the whole family
  • Choose your perfect cedar, from “Charlie Brown” trees to full-sized beauties.
  • Enjoy hot cider, hot chocolate, cookies, and a cozy fireside after your tree is cut.
  • Friendly tree wranglers will help you find and load your tree.
  • Your suggested $25 donation per tree includes two tickets to Powell Gardens’ Evergy Festival of Lights! Your donation directly supports native habitat restoration throughout the KC metro.

👢 What to Bring:

  • Bring a handsaw (no chainsaws or axes) and rope to secure your tree for the ride home. We will provide extra saws and rope as needed.
