Bridging The Gap

Bridging The Gap (BTG) works to make the Kansas City region sustainable by "connecting environment, economy and community," and is the premier organization in the area providing environmental education and volunteer action through more than 1,800 volunteers annually.

BTG runs a variety of programs aimed at providing environmental benefit to the KC metro. Our programs include:

Heartland Tree Alliance educates people about all the critically important benefits created by urban trees, why these trees need extra care, and the proper ways to give them that care. We also organize planting events, pruning events and tree care workdays so people can get involved.

KC WildLands is a coalition of resource professionals, private conservation organizations and conservation-minded citizens established to restore and conserve the remnants of Kansas City’s original landscape by involving people in the stewardship of the land.

Our recycling centers in KCMO offer a way for residents to responsibly manage their waste. Centers are open throughout the metro and accept a variety of materials. The centers also accept volunteers to help educate center patrons on recycling dos and don'ts

Our litter program aims to to involve citizens, businesses and government in creating a cleaner and more beautiful Kansas City region. Bridging The Gap is committed to reducing litter in Kansas City and works with hundreds of volunteers annually on litter abatement projects.
