FARM BUSINESS Training Event in Kansas City KS

The KC Farm School at Gibbs Road invites you to our first FARM BUSINESS training event, : START-UP ESSENTIALS, on Monday, January 22, 6-8 pm. The Toolbox: Small Business Resource Center will be hosting the event at its location in Kansas City, Kansas. The address is 1303 Central Ave, Kansas City, KS 66102.

We invite you to join the KC F.AR.M.E.R.S. Coalition and attend the FREE event.

These work-and-learn sessions are designed by business professionals specifically for farm business operators (growers!) and will cover the first several steps of starting a farm business. These include securing a business license, registering with the Secretary of State, the IRS, the Department of Revenue, Department of Agriculture, developing a business plan, tax preparation, payroll tax, insurance, banking, gaining legal advice, creating service agreements, branding, and invoicing. We make the process easy to understand and approachable.

This training session is the first …

… of four farm business training sessions we are designing. The other training topics will focus on taxes, financial projections, and marketing. Stay tuned.

Each of our work and learn sessions have hands-on components so the participant receives tactile learning experiences by lending a hand to the host farm. All this is aimed at creating muscle memory and building community. This reciprocal and relational model has proven successful for millennia and is practiced at our farm. The hands-on portion of this training session is creating-your-own informational binder. Your binder will eventually contain all the learning and resources provided by this farmer-led coalition.
