Vancouver is a cautionary tale for what cities, often hampered by a lack of funding and frequently pitted against the interests of state and federal governments, can accomplish when it comes to the environment and climate change. According to the most recent update on the “Greenest City” goals, the city has only met six of the 20 quantitative targets set a decade ago, mostly those related to boosting public transportation and building new city parks.
