The clothing you are wearing right now has a surprisingly large impact on our environment and climate systems. The fashion industry is responsible for 8.1% of global greenhouse gas emissions. Today’s combination of petroleum-based textiles and cheap, abusive labor practices has given rise to what is called Fast Fashion, an industry of poorly-made, throw-away clothing, that in turn has led to a massive environmental deluge of micropollutants and overflowing landfills.
Join host, Bob Grove, and guests from the U.S., Chile and Columbia to discuss the International Sustainable Fashion Movement.
Guests include:
- Francisca Gajardo, Sustainable Fashion Designer and Creator of the upcycling brand Y.A.N.G.
- Carolina Gaitan Montoya, Founder, La Cortisana
- Eileen Bobowski, Executive Director, The Sewing Labs
- Laura Treas, Founder, Fashion Tech KC
- Beth Sarver, President, KC Restoration School
- Diego Sandoval, Program Officer, International Research and Exchanges Board
