The year 2019 will be the “last chance” for the international community to take effective action on climate change, UN General Assembly President Maria Espinosa pronounced on Thursday, Feb. 14. During this briefing she announced the UN’s roadmap to the Climate Summit in September to be held in Chile. Some of the key events, leading up to, and following, the Climate Summit for 2019, were outlined for the representatives of General Assembly Member States. In all these events two goals are shared. The first is a doubling of commitments and ambition at a national level. And the second, according to the General Assembly President, is that of ensuring the inclusion of diverse groups in the process of climate action.
