TRA Board member, Amy Zoe Schonhoff, a certified mindfulness and meditation teacher, will guide a mindful looking practice at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art on Saturday, July 25th, from 2:00–3:30 p.m.
Mindful Looking is a contemplative practice that invites us to slow down and bring wise, affectionate attention to the present moment through sustained engagement with the visual field.
By meeting works of art with curiosity, openness, and awareness, we begin to notice more deeply not only the details, textures, and emotions within the artwork itself, but also our own inner responses as we encounter it. Through this practice, art becomes more than something to observe—it becomes a doorway into presence, awe, wonder, and emotional resonance.
During this hour-long gathering, we will collectively explore and contemplate selected works from the museum’s special exhibition, Timeless Mucha, which celebrates the visionary work of Czech artist Alphonse Mucha. Learn more about the exhibition at Timeless Mucha at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art.

Our visit will also include a special conversation with the Head of Library and Archives for the Spencer Art Reference Library at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, who will offer an overview of library programming and events connected to the exhibition. Post-event, consider joining us for coffee & conversation at Thou Mayest, located within the Museum’s Bloch Building.
