Make KC’s Tree Ordinance More Robust

The KCMO City Council wants to preserve much of the woods in the path of development projects. But the 2023 Tree Protection Ordinance is saving very few trees.

An effort is under way to strengthen the ordinance so that residential and commercial developments will have to be planned to save more existing woods than they do now.

You can help by contacting your KCMO council members to let them know that you don’t want developers to clearcut forests everywhere they wish to develop. The council has heard from developers. It now needs to hear from residents who cherish their woods and want some restraints on rampant deforestation due to poor development.

Please contact your KCMO council members to let them know you want our forests preserved.
