KC Can Compost’s Green Core Training program utilizes the Roots of Success and Conover curricula to provide environmental literacy and work readiness training to individuals with barriers to employment. The program then provides assistance to program graduates to help them obtain green internships or jobs. There are two programs that are offered.
Enrolling in the Work Readiness Program (Conover), trainees learn the critical soft skills that are most sought after in today’s workplace through an online, video-based curriculum. The program covers these 10 topics: Attitude, Communication, Planning & Organizing, Critical Thinking, Interpersonal/Social Skills, Teamwork, Decision Making, Resume Writing, and Interviewing Practice. Students earn credentials in Job Readiness, Job Seeking, and Job Keeping from Conover Online
Enrolling in The Environmental Program (Roots of Success), The Roots of Success curriculum prepares trainees for more than 125 environmental jobs and career pathways. Graduates of the program receive industry relevant certifications. The Roots of Success program covers these 10 topics: Fundamentals of Environmental Literacy, Energy, Building, Transportation, Health, Food and Agriculture, Water, Waste, Social Entrepreneurship, Community Organizing & Leadership. Upon completion of coursework, students earn an Environmental Literacy Certificate from Roots of Success. Students who complete all 10 Roots of Success modules are eligible for a Department of Labor designation as an Environmental Specialist.
