A global cities group will provide technical support to help the Kansas City area develop a climate plan. The Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate & Energy (GCoM) selected Kansas City, along with Chicago, Denver and Washington, D.C., for its International Urban Cooperation Regional and Metro-Scale Climate Leaders initiative, according to a release from the Mid-America Regional Council. Included in the program’s assistance will be an inventory of the region’s greenhouse gas emissions. This will give Metro KC Climate Action Coalition an idea of where to start on the climate plan, Roeland Park Mayor Mark Kelly said.
