The sixth Global Environment Outlook, released on March 13 at the Fourth United Nations Environmental Assembly in Nairobi, Kenya, provides a dire picture of a planet where environmental problems interact with each other to make things even more dangerous for people. Yet the report says changes in the way the world eats, buys things, gets its energy and handles its waste could help fix the problems. Building on the findings of previous GEO reports, GEO-6 shows how governments can put the world on the path to a truly sustainable future. It emphasizes that urgent and inclusive action is needed by decision makers at all levels to achieve a healthy planet with healthy people.
