In 2020, City Council passed Resolution 200005, directing the City to update the 2008 Climate Protection Plan to include new greenhouse gas reduction goals, resiliency, and equity. The result will be a Climate Protection and Resiliency Plan that details strategies to reduce Kansas City’s contribution to climate change, and approaches to help our community adapt to the climate-related impacts the city is already experiencing. The Collaborate & Explore phase focuses on collaborating with Kansas City residents and organizations to explore strategy ideas that will help the community reduce greenhouse gas emissions and create more resilient neighborhoods. The KCMO Office of Environmental Quality has provided a survey for obtaining ideas on possible strategies to help reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions both citywide and in local neighborhoods.
