Regional stakeholders formed Climate Action KC to organize strategies to draw down greenhouse gases and improve the Kansas City region’s climate resilience. Together with 100+ elected officials, the Climate Action KC steering committee developed a Climate Action Playbook to help area communities evaluate and implement a broad cross-section of climate policies and strategies already available to them. This Climate Action Playbook by Climate Action KC was formally released Tuesday at the Climate Action KC and MARC Success Stories event. The Playbook is primarily addressed to local elected officials, and also to staff, with information about and links to a range of policies and programs that have been implemented by local jurisdictions across the country. Six key areas are the focus of this playbook: Buildings & Cities, Electricity Generation, Food, Land Use, Materials, and Transportation.
