The City Council is set to vote on a LED Streetlights contract that will begin a citywide conversion of all streetlights to energy-efficient LED bulbs and fixtures. The contract is on today’s agenda for the Transportation, Infrastructure and Operations Committee, so tune in to Channel 2 at 9 a.m. to hear the discussion.
“The conversion to LEDs is yet another environmentally friendly step the City is taking.” Others include:
- Conversion of Kansas City’s municipal fleet to 100% zero emissions battery electric vehicles where available.
- Development of potentially one of the largest solar power generation facilities in the United States at the Kansas City International Airport
- New charging pads at KCI, making it the first airport in the country to use this technology for its fleet of electric buses.
