Join us November 9, 2023 from 2:00-3:30pm for the dedication ceremony for the brand new Allie Mae Dickens Community Orchard, named in honor of former NE KCK resident and community leader, Allie Mae Dickens.
Located just across N. 3rd Street from Juniper Gardens Training Farm at 321 Troup Ave, Kansas City, KS 66101, the orchard will be a place for New Roots farmers to learn how to care for fruit trees and blackberries, in the hopes that they can establish these crops at their own farms. The site will also be open to the community for gathering and harvesting.
The orchard was installed with volunteer support from the Giving Grove, Groundwork NRG, CCNEK, KC Healthy Kids, and CKC.
The orchard project was made possible with support from Malisa Monyakula and City Farms LLC; K Jett Services LLC; HomeServe USA; the Kansas Department of Agriculture, Specialty Crop Block Grant; Dennis Baughman, Midtown Signs; and the Giving Grove.
Registration is free, but we’d like to know how many folks to expect. REGISTER HERE.
