As the winter chill fades, the Blue River Nature Guide program invites you to witness a fleeting natural wonder during our Spring Ephemerals Hike and other great outdoor nature-connected activities.
- March 11 @ 2 – 4pm: If you’re interested in learning more about foraging, look no further! The Anita B. Gorman Conservation Discovery Center will hold a foraging class. The class will be begin with reading literature to help ID various plants, followed by walking around on the grounds to see what can be found. More information here.
- March 11 @ 5 – 7pm: Join Bridging The Gap and Heartland Conservation Alliance for the Blue River Communities event at Gregg Klice Community Center. This event will highlight ongoing green infrastructure and restoration projects along the Blue River and throughout surrounding watershed neighborhoods, while offering community members an opportunity to learn more and share feedback. - March 28 @9am-10am Step into spring with an exciting exploration of the HOP, the Spring Ephemerals Hike! Our Missouri Master Naturalist guide will lead us off the beaten path to identify the first blooms of the season. You’ll learn how to spot rare spring ephemerals, understand their unique life cycles, and see firsthand how the Heartland Overlook Preserve wakes up after winter. More Information here.
