Woodland Restoration Volunteer Days with Heartland Conservation Alliance

Heartland Conservation Alliance is thrilled to host bi-monthly Woodland Restoration Events at the Heartland Overlook Preserve (HOP) at 9106 Chestnut Ave, Kansas City, MO 64132. There are only 3 opportunities left for 2024 on Nov. 15, Dec. 7, and Dec. 21. So grab some friends and register HERE.

What to expect:

Join us as Christian, a Master Naturalist and our Conservation Land Steward, provides an informative briefing on plant identification, woodland ecology, removal techniques for invasive plant species, safety protocols, and other essential aspects of woodland restoration. Following the briefing, volunteers will actively participate in removing invasive species within the designated restoration zone, ensuring that native species are protected and unharmed.

Be prepared for the great outdoors:
  • Bring sunscreen.
  • Bring bug spray.
  • Bring plenty of water.
  • Wear appropriate clothing. This should be breathable yet protective. Long pants and socks are highly recommended to protect you from ticks and sharp objects. Closed-toed shoes are required.
  • There are no public restrooms at the HOP, so please plan accordingly.

This work is made possible through a grant from the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation with support from the US Fish & Wildlife Service.
