Public Education Specialist, Metro Farms and Food Systems (MFFS)

Our Metro Farms and Food Systems program exists to help grow the Kansas City local food system through providing technical assistance, training and education, networking and support services to local farms and food projects. The MFFS Public Education Specialist is responsible for overseeing the planning and implementation of the Urban Grown Tour in partnership with other organizations that support urban growers in the metro area. This event was a key public education event hosted by Cultivate KC for many
years and will return in 2025 for the first time since 2018.

Director of Farm Programs

The Director of Farm Programs is responsible for overseeing program delivery and managing grant deliverables at Cultivate KC’s three farm sites: the Juniper Gardens Training Farm, the Westport Commons Farm, and the forthcoming farm to be developed in western Wyandotte County. This position will also assist the Executive Director, leadership team and members of the Board of Directors in helping to evaluate the effectiveness of
Cultivate KC’s farm-based programming and oversee future expansion.

Dotte Mobile Grocer Specialist

Under the supervision of the Food Access Manager, the Dotte Mobile Grocer Specialist will coordinate day-to-day operations of the Dotte Mobile Grocer truck. This retrofitted truck functions as a mobile grocery store, equipped with storage units for shelf-stable and refrigerated items, as well as fresh produce. Its mission is to provide equitable access to affordable and fresh food in neighborhoods of Wyandotte County where such options are not abundantly available. The Dotte Mobile Grocer Specialist will actively engage with host sites, fostering existing partnerships and forging new ones. This role entails managing point-of-sale transactions and delivering exceptional customer service to ensure a dignified shopping experience for all patrons. Given its outward-facing nature, this position must create and maintain a culture centered on adaptability, inclusivity, and warmth. The Dotte Mobile Grocer Specialist will partner with the Mobile Market Community Council (MMCC), a committed team of volunteers from Wyandotte County who have prior experience operating the vehicle. This position will continue to grow and develop the Dotte Mobile Grocer program, and in the near-term work to attain full-service WIC and SNAP retailer status.
