The UN has been bringing together almost every country on earth for global climate summits – called COPs – which stands for ‘Conference of the Parties’. This process led to the landmark Paris Agreement. 2021 is a historic year for global climate action at COP26 in Glasgow. The Regional Climate Weeks, which build momentum towards success at the Conference and take a pulse of climate action by region, already happened in Asia-Pacific and Latin America and the Caribbean with new initiatives launched such as an ‘Adaptation Academy’ for developing countries. The Africa Climate week was just announced for 26-29 September, and regional stakeholders will explore climate challenges and opportunities, and showcase ambitious solutions.
