Magpie Creative Reuse is seeking dedicated, community-oriented leaders. If you’re passionate about sustainability, creativity, and resourcefulness—and want to make a meaningful impact in Kansas City—this is your chance to help shape a growing nonprofit that reimagines waste as possibility.
As a board member, you’ll be part of a small but mighty team helping Magpie thrive. You’ll have the opportunity to build meaningful connections, strengthen Kansas City’s creative reuse ecosystem, and make a lasting impact on environmental sustainability and the arts.
Some Executive Board Commitments include:
- Serve a one-year term/ At the conclusion of the initial one year term, Members of the Board may be re-elected to serve two additional two-year terms
- Attend monthly board meetings (in-person, mostly virtual)Contribute to at least one committee or project through subcommittee work
- Support fundraising, governance, and outreach efforts
- Contribute $100 each year – as a financial donation or in-kind.
As a predominantly volunteer-run organization, our board is vital to our success.
We’re looking for individuals with a collaborative spirit and professional or lived experience in areas like:
- Fundraising and donor engagement
- Nonprofit accounting, tax compliance, or financial oversight
- Grant writing and grants management
We also welcome those with backgrounds in nonprofit leadership, legal services, community organizing, and arts or environmental education.

Join our Advisory Council
Our Advisory Council is a group of non-voting members with various areas of expertise. Members of the advisory council:
- Give advice and recommendations in their field of expertise when requested by the board
- Volunteer to serve on a sub-committee
- Attend semi-annual Advisory Council meetings
