We throw away a lot of stuff, often because it’s cheaper to replace rather than repair it or we just don’t know how to fix it. That’s where Repair Cafés come in! Together with our volunteers, you can have your broken items repaired instead of tossing them.*
We had a great Repair Cafe on July 19, thanks to the support of the City of Overland Park and our amazing volunteers who make these events possible! We appreciate the hospitality of our new venue, Tomahawk Ridge Community Center.
We were also thrilled to see all of the bikes donated to benefit the Johnson County Christmas Bureau–24 in total! If you missed it and have a bike you’d like to rehome, contact them to arrange for your donation.
Save the Date for these upcoming fall Repair Cafés:
- Heart of the City: September 6
- Go Green 2025 Environmental Fair (with a clothing swap!): October 18
- City of Shawnee: November 15
We’ll be doing fixes for items such as:
- Bikes
- Clothing/textiles (repairs only, no alterations, please)
- Computers (Virus/malware removal, file transfers, other basic repairs)
- Electronics
- Jewelry
- Lamps
- Small appliances (e.g., replacing cords on handmixers, toasters, irons, etc.)
Please note: To help minimize the wait for everyone, we’ll have a limit of 1 item per repair category (e.g., 1 shirt) and a total of 3 items (e.g., 1 shirt, 1 lamp and 1 bracelet).
