Clay signs onto ‘Green New Deal,’ First Congressperson from Missouri to Co-Sponsor

Becoming the first Missouri Representative or Senator to co-sponsor the Green New Deal legislation at the federal level, House Representative William Lacy Clay, D-University City, has signed onto the Democrats’ “Green New Deal,” by placing his name on a resolution introduced in the House by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Clay considers the document a blueprint call to action to attack climate change, not a specific policy proposal. He said he was especially attracted to language in the resolution about economic justice.
